Isotope effects in high-Tc cuprate superconductors as support for the bipolaron theory of superconductivity

چکیده
We provide a unified parameter-free explanation of the observed oxygen-isotope effects on the critical temperature, the magnetic-field penetration depth and on the normal-state pseudogap for underdoped cuprate superconductors within the framework of the multi-(bi)polaron theory with strong Coulomb and Fröhlich interactions. We also quantitatively explain the measured critical temperature and the magnitude of the magnetic-field penetration depth. This paper thus represents an important support for the bipolaron theory of high-temperature superconductivity, compatible with many other independent observations. 4 Author to whom any correspondence should be addressed. Bipolaronic Proximity and Other Unconventional Effects in Cuprate Superconductors
There is compelling evidence for a strong electron-phonon interaction (EPI) in cuprate superconductors from the isotope effects on the supercarrier mass, high resolution angle resolved photoemission spectroscopies (ARPES), a number of optical and neutron-scattering measurements in accordance with our prediction of high-temperature superconductivity in polaronic liquids. A number of observations...
متن کاملOxygen-isotope effect on the in-plane penetration depth in cuprate superconductors
Muon-spin rotation (μSR) studies of the oxygen isotope (O/O) effect (OIE) on the in-plane magnetic field penetration depth λab in cuprate high-temperature superconductors (HTS) are presented. First, the doping dependence of the OIE on the transition temperature Tc in various HTS is briefly discussed. It is observed that different cuprate families show a similar doping dependence of the OIE on T...

Two decades ago the epoch making discovery of high Tc cuprate superconductivity by Bednorz and Müller shocked the world’s superconductivity community. However, already in 1979 and 1980, the first heavy fermion superconductor CeCu2Si2 and organic superconductor (TMTSF)2PF6 have been discovered respectively. Also we know now that all these superconductors are unconventional and nodal. Further t...
متن کاملUnified picture of the oxygen isotope effect in cuprate superconductors.
High-temperature superconductivity in cuprates was discovered almost exactly 20 years ago, but a satisfactory theoretical explanation for this phenomenon is still lacking. The isotope effect has played an important role in establishing electron-phonon interaction as the dominant interaction in conventional superconductors. Here we present a unified picture of the oxygen isotope effect in cuprat...
متن کاملIntrinsic and structural isotope effects in iron-based superconductors
The currently available results of the isotope effect on the superconducting transition temperature Tc in Fe-based high-temperature superconductors (HTSs) are highly controversial. The values of the Fe isotope effect exponent Fe for various families of Fe-based HTS were found to be as well positive, as negative, or even be exceedingly larger than the BCS value BCS0.5. Here we emphasize that ...
